I don't know one single person that doesn't have at least a photo of family, friends, or pets hanging on their cubicle wall. If not a photo, maybe some other pictures or they have something else personal on their desk or somewhere else in their cube.
Well, that's how it was at Sigma-Aldrich - until last year. Last year, management decided it was necessary that employees remove everything personal from their cubicle. The reason for that is, at least that's what I heard, that customers could possibly stroll up and down the cubicle aisles and be offended or find it awkward to look at Sigma's employee's personal belongings. Really??
