On July 1, 2007, The Bank of New York Company, Inc. (“The Bank of New York Co.”) and Mellon Financial Corporation (“Mellon”) merged into The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation (“The Bank of New York Mellon”, “BNY Mellon” or the “Corporation”), with BNY Mellon being the surviving entity. The merger was accounted for as a purchase of Mellon by The Bank of New York Co. for accounting and financial reporting purposes.
