Edward M. Knabusch and Edwin J. Shoemaker started Floral City Furniture in 1927, and in 1928 the newly formed company introduced its first recliner. In 1941, we were incorporated in the state of Michigan, and in 1996 the name was changed to La-Z-Boy Incorporated. Since then the La-Z-Boy name has become the most recognized brand in the furniture industry. We have increased our ownership of retail stores during the past several years. La-Z-Boy Incorporated is divided into three segments — the Upholstery Group, the Casegoods Group and the Retail Group. La-Z-Boy is the largest reclining-chair manufacturer in the world and North America’s largest manufacturer of upholstered furniture. We also manufacture and import casegoods (wood) furniture products for resale in North America. La-Z-Boy Incorporated markets furniture for every room of the home.
