The Female Health Company ("FHC" or the "Company") manufactures, markets and
sells the female condom (FC), the only product approved by the U.S. Food and
Drug Administration (FDA) under a woman's control which provides dual protection
against unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases ("STDs"),
including HIV/AIDS.
FC has undergone extensive testing for efficacy, safety and acceptability, not
only in the United States but also in many countries around the world. Certain
of these studies show that having FC available allows women to have more
options, resulting in an increase in protected sex acts and a decrease in STDs,
including HIV/AIDS.
The product is currently sold or available through various channels in 116
countries. It is commercially marketed directly to consumers in 15 countries by
various country specific partners, including in the United States, the United
Kingdom, Canada and France.
