We are a global pharmaceutical group engaged in the research, development,
manufacture and marketing of healthcare products. In 2007, our net sales
amounted to €28,052 million. Based on 2007 sales, we are the fourth largest
pharmaceutical group in the world and the largest pharmaceutical group in Europe
(source: IMS sales year end 2007; all available channels). Sanofi-aventis is the
parent of a consolidated group of companies. A list of the principal
subsidiaries included in this consolidation is shown at Note E to the
consolidated financial statements included under Item 18 of this annual report.
Our business includes two main activities: (i) pharmaceuticals and (ii) human
vaccines through sanofi pasteur.
