Saia, Inc. (Saia or the Company) is a leading asset-based trucking company that
provides a variety of transportation and supply chain solutions to a broad range
of industries, including the retail, chemical and manufacturing industries.
We were organized in 2000 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Yellow Corporation,
now known as YRC Worldwide, (Yellow) to better manage its regional
transportation business. We became an independent public company on
September 30, 2002 as a result of a 100 percent tax-free distribution of shares
to Yellow shareholders (the Spin-off). Each Yellow shareholder received one
share of Saia stock for every two shares of Yellow stock held as of the
September 3, 2002 record date. As a result of the Spin-off, Yellow does not own
any shares of our capital stock.
On June 30, 2006, the Company completed the sale of the outstanding stock of
Jevic Transportation, Inc.
