UIL Holdings Corporation (UIL Holdings) primarily operates its regulated utility business. The utility business consists of the electric transmission and distribution operations of The United Illuminating Company (UI). UIL Holdings also has non-utility businesses consisting of an operating lease and passive minority ownership interests in two investment funds, (collectively held at United Capital Investments, Inc. (UCI)), a heating and cooling facility and a mechanical contracting business. The non-utility businesses also recently included (1) a minority ownership interest in Bridgeport Energy, LLC (BE) held by United Bridgeport Energy, Inc.
