York Stock Exchange under the symbol “VLO.” We were incorporated in Delaware in
1981 under the name Valero Refining and Marketing Company; our name was changed
to Valero Energy Corporation on August 1, 1997. On January 31, 2007, we had
21,836 employees.
We own and operate 18 refineries located in the United States, Canada, and Aruba
that produce premium, environmentally clean refined products such as RBOB1,
gasoline meeting the specifications of the California Air Resources Board
(CARB), CARB diesel fuel, low-sulfur and ultra-low-sulfur diesel fuel, and
oxygenates (liquid hydrocarbon compounds containing oxygen). We also produce
conventional gasolines, distillates, jet fuel, asphalt, petrochemicals,
lubricants, and other refined products.
