Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. (the ‘‘Company’’, ‘‘we’’, ‘‘us’’, or ‘‘our’’),
incorporated under the laws of the Republic of the Marshall Islands (the
‘‘Marshall Islands’’) and headquartered in New York City, is engaged primarily
in the ocean transportation of a broad range of major and minor bulk cargoes,
including iron ore, coal, grain, cement and fertilizer, along worldwide shipping
routes. We operate in the Handymax sector of the dry bulk industry, with
particular emphasis on the Supramax class of vessels. As of December 31, 2007,
we owned and operated a modern fleet of 18 oceangoing vessels with a combined
carrying capacity of 915,502 deadweight tons and an average age of approximately
6 years. We have also contracted for the construction of 35 Supramax vessels
with a combined carrying capacity of 1,995,000 deadweight tons, deliveries of
which are expected to commence in August 2008 and will continue until 2012.
