Delcath Systems, Inc. (“we,” “us,” “our,” “Delcath,” or the “Company”) was
incorporated under Delaware law in 1988. We are a development stage company with
a platform technology that isolates specific organs and body regions from the
body’s general circulatory system in order to administer high dose chemotherapy
and other therapeutic agents directly to a diseased organ or body region, which
we refer to as the “Delcath System”. The first application being investigated
for our system uses the Delcath technology to isolate the liver from the general
circulatory system for the treatment of tumors of the liver. High doses of
chemotherapy are delivered directly to tumors in the liver while protecting the
patient from the toxicities that would normally result from systemic exposure to
the administered chemotherapeutic drug. These higher doses could be potentially
lethal to the patient if administered systemically.
